Everything You Need To Know About Football This Week 3/11/14

This weekend we had two derbies in the form of Chelsea v QPR and Manchester City v Manchester United, and more solid work from a resurrected Newcastle.

Newcastle 1 – 0 Liverpool

Perez got the goal as Newcastle made it four wins on the trot against an unimpressive Liverpool side.

Arsenal 3 – 0 Burnley

Arsenal won three nil in the latest instalment of the Alexis Sanchez show with the diminutive Chilean striker scoring two and Calum Chambers getting his first goal for the Gunners.

Chelsea 2 – 1 QPR

Oscar scored the goal of the weekend after good work from Cesc Fabregas.

Chelsea fans fell foul of Mourinho with the Chelsea manager criticising them for a lack of atmosphere at the Bridge.

Stoke 2 – 2 West Ham

Stewart Downing continued his fine form to secure a point away at Stoke with a goal and an assist.

Man City 1 – 0 Man Utd

City eventually got the points in a well-contested Manchester derby that was ultimately decided when Chris Smalling lost his cool to get sent off for two yellow cards in the first half.

Aguero got the winner for City with another fine finish.

Aston Villa 1 – 2 Tottenham

Villa were left to rue the actions of Christian Benteke when they conceded two late goals after the striker was sent off for raising his hand against Ryan Mason.

Harry Kane scored again for Spurs and will surely feel he’s earned himself a starting spot ahead of fellow strikers Soldado and Adebayor.

Best Of The Rest

Bristol City scored this cheeky free-kick against Oldham.

Thierry Henry brought another touch of class to the MLS.

Luis Gil realised the dreams of professional footballers and playground wannabes alike with a double nutmeg.

And Esteban Ramirez scored a truly fantastic volley.

Tonight we’ve got Crystal Palace v Sunderland at 8pm to round off the weekend’s Premier League action, followed by Real Madrid v Liverpool and Arsenal v Anderlecht on Tuesday, and Man City v CSKA Moscow, Ajax v Barcelona and Maribor v Chelsea (all 7:45pm) on Wednesday in the Champions League. See you next week.
